Alexandra Silverman
Growing up in both Paris and Los Angeles, it’s no surprise that Alexandra has a natural affinity for fashion and design. After graduating from FIDM in LA, Alexandra found herself in high demand among the West Coast fashion companies. She spent several years in the design departments of top name labels, reaffirming her love of the industry, and whetting her appetite for starting her own business.
Chris Silverman
When the local skate/surf shop offered a young Chris Silverman a job on the selling floor, he had no idea it would be the beginning of an entrepreneurial career in design. Moving quickly from sales, Chris started buying for the shop at age sixteen. It was only natural then that Chris’ brother, one of the co-founders of X-Large, brought him on board to jump start the company. After years of designing product, opening stores, and helping with the day-to-day business for X-Large, Chris was ready to start his own line.
Alexandra and Chris met in 1995, and the two merged their common interests in a successful line of men’s and women’s apparel aptly called Silver Man and SilverWoman. Following that, they both moved to New York for design jobs that they couldn’t turn down- at Gap and Old Navy. The duo couldn’t stay away from the West Coast long, though, and moved back in 2000. Soon after, they opened their shoe boutique twenty two, which then inspired them to create their own line of shoes. |
